1. Overview
Echos of Mind gives you full control over your data, including permanent deletion of your account and everything associated with it.
Deletion is:
- –Initiated by you — never automatic
- –Irreversible once complete
- –Protected by a 7-day window to prevent accidental loss
2. How to Request Deletion
2.1 From Within the App
This is the primary and preferred method.
Go to account settings and select Delete Account.
In-app deletion ensures:
- –Secure identity verification
- –Immediate request processing
- –Full visibility into deletion status
2.2 If You've Lost App Access
Email us at: support@echosofmind.com
To prevent unauthorized deletion, we may ask for:
- –Your registered email address
- –Basic identity confirmation
3. The Deletion Process
Your account is marked as Pending Deletion. A 7-day countdown begins. Certain features may be restricted during this period.
Your data remains stored but inactive. No permanent deletion occurs during this window. You can cancel the request at any time within these 7 days.
This window exists to protect you from accidental loss — not to delay your request.
After 7 days, deletion is executed automatically.
The following is permanently removed:
- –Account information (name, email, profile data, optional fields)
- –Journal entries (text and voice)
- –Mood check-ins
- –Reflections and pattern insights
- –Associated metadata
This cannot be undone.
4. Cancelling Within the 7-Day Window
Log into your account and select Cancel Deletion Request.
Upon cancellation:
- –Your account is fully restored
- –No data is lost
After 7 days, cancellation is no longer possible.
5. Backups & Residual Data
Due to standard system architecture, deleted data may temporarily remain in encrypted backups.
You should know:
- –Backup data is automatically purged within a defined retention cycle
- –Backup data is never accessed, processed, or used in any form
- –It exists solely as a technical artifact — not as usable data
6. End-to-End Encryption & Deletion
If E2EE is active on your account:
- –Your data is encrypted before it ever reaches our servers
- –Deletion removes all encrypted data from active systems
- –Decryption keys become permanently unusable after deletion
After deletion is complete, your data cannot be restored under any circumstances — including by us.
7. Deletion Confirmation
When you initiate deletion, you will receive:
- –An in-app confirmation with your deletion timeline
- –Instructions to cancel within the 7-day window
We will not delete your account silently.
8. What We Cannot Do
–We cannot expedite deletion beyond the 7-day process
–We cannot reverse deletion once complete
–We cannot recover data after deletion is executed
–We cannot access your encrypted content at any stage
9. Legal Retention — Rare Exceptions
In rare cases, a minimal subset of non-personal data may be retained if legally required to:
- –Comply with applicable law
- –Resolve an active dispute
- –Enforce an existing agreement
This never includes:
- –Journal entries
- –Mood data
- –Reflection content
- –Any personal awareness data
10. Governing Law
This policy is governed by the laws of India, including:
- –Information Technology Act, 2000
- –Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), 2023
11. Policy Updates
If this policy changes significantly, you will be notified within the app before changes take effect.
